VBC is Founded
After a career in engineering, Myron Van Buskirk moved his family to South Dakota and decided to work for himself as a builder and developer. He found available land in Brandon and on the west side of Sioux Falls and saw its potential, thus Van Buskirk Construction began. His wife, Joan, was the official decorator of the constructed homes.Â
1971Kirkwood Manufacturing Corporation
Myron started a truss manufacturing shop in support of his construction business and for sale to the public. The shop was located in Brandon and employed around 80 people.Â
1973Kingswood Estates Begins
The beginning of what would be 100's of Van Buskirk Construction homes built in Kingswood and also home to the infamous Kingswood Rummage Sales.
1974Kensington Moor
In an effort to bring a new housing option to local homebuyers, Myron creates Kensington Moor - a community of contemporary homes that offered affordable land ownership and efficient use of space.
1978Kirkwood Manufacturing Dissolves
Due to extremely high tax rates causing a slow market, Myron decided to dissolve Kirkwood Manufacturing.Â
1981VBC moves into new office
After liquidating Kirkwood Manufacturing, VBC found a new home at 5003 W 12th Street
1984VBC moves their office into retail mall
5107 W 41st Street was built by VBC in 1989. Godfathers Pizza has occupied the front half even to this day and the back has several office/retail suites.Â

1992Myron Inducted into HBA Hall of Fame
As a member of the HBA since 1972, serving on the board and as President, Myron was only the third builder to be inducted into the HBA of Sioux Falls Hall of Fame.Â
1998
