A Sioux Falls native, Mike Knudson graduated from the University of South Dakota with a degree in business administration. For over 15 years, his marketing career took him from in-house at Sanford Health in the marketing department, to then serving as an account executive for larger advertising agencies, managing the agency’s largest clients.
Having many mutual friends in the advertising industry, Mike came to know Ryan Tysdal, commercial real estate broker at Van Buskirk Companies.
“Ryan has a background in marketing/advertising and made the jump to commercial real estate and he really loves what he is doing. We began conversations months ago and Ryan has been a great mentor as I get established in this fast-paced industry. I enjoy taking care of people so helping business owners find the location of their dreams is a great fit for me.”
Mike earned his broker associate license and joined the team this past January. He is excited about the vast opportunities commercial real estate offers in the Sioux Falls area, allowing him to help literally shape Sioux Falls. He also likes the fact that VBC is a community partner, giving back in ways that align with his own values.
Mike’s family has been very active in state and local politics, and he shares that same civic mindedness as the Vice-President of the Harrisburg School Board. He is also a board member with Sales and Marketing Executives (SME) of Sioux Falls and is currently finishing his term as President of the South Dakota Advertising Federation (SDAF). Mike is also a proud graduate of Leadership South Dakota and Leadership Sioux Falls.
Mike lives in Sioux Falls with his wife Kylie and their two sons Carson (15) and Coy (7). In his spare time, he enjoys spending it with his family and helping coach Coy’s soccer and flag football teams. His entire family also enjoys cheering for Minnesota sports teams (Vikings, Twins and Wild) and they are big supporters of the Harrisburg Tigers.
